It’s a big day for Dave and Lisa Horsager: raising a family and sending a great message about Trust.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Today is a huge day for Dave Horsager.\u00a0 He\u2019s a Twin Cities husband and father who is also breaking out as an international speaker, author and expert on trust<\/em>. Tonight, (Tuesday, October 9, 2012) Dave and Lisa are hosting a fantastic book launch party.<\/a> To say the world needs more trust is to say that humans need air, food and water to survive.\u00a0 Dave makes the obvious argument come to life in a sincere, compelling way. And he’s building a terrific business around the idea.<\/p>\n

We met four years ago when the National Speaker\u2019s Association assigned him to be my speaking mentor. His momentum is building on the national stage…and today he is the poster image of “trust” in the business book category.\u00a0 Literally.\u00a0 Publishing giant Simon and Schuster is putting it’s shoulder behind Dave\u2019s book The Trust Edge<\/em>, calling it their most significant business book of the year.\u00a0 He even has a poster<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Dave Horsager has his hands full with four energetic growing kids.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

It’s simple for me to get behind Dave’s message because we have a lot in common: we are husbands, fathers, sports lovers, entrepreneurs and faithful leaders.\u00a0 And we both know what it means to put ourselves out there in ways that force us to live transparently.\u00a0 Dave knows what if feels like to live in the proverbial glass house.<\/em> If you promote yourself as the \u201ctrust guy,” you better keep your promises!<\/em><\/p>\n

I know what that means: I\u2019m the \u201cgoodness guy.\u201d And recently I had a difficult situation with a faulty microphone where someone loved my message, but didn’t appreciate how I handled the sound tech. He said I wasn’t walking my talk. It’s not easy being the poster image of “goodness.” Dave understands.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I have been through The Trust Edge<\/em> a couple of times and I think you will like it too\u2026it is a great book. <\/a> Dave began this journey by dedicating his graduate school research to the concept of \u201cwhat builds trust.\u201d He\u2019s identified the 8 Pillars of Trust and collected wonderfully rich stories.\u00a0 I particularly like the message on page 20. People have sent him letters saying: \u201cone Trust Idea you gave me saved my marriage.\u201d <\/em> Another said: \u201cyour book helped us triple our sales in one year.\u201d <\/em>Enough said?<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the magic in his message? \u201cThe trusted leader is followed. The trusted sales person is bought from. For the trusted brand people will pay more, come back, and tell others. In the Twenty-First Century, trust has become the world\u2019s most precious resource.\u201d <\/em>I recently quoted him in my *Bright Paper called: Why Goodness Pays<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Good leaders make a habit to live intentionally, as if they are a poster image of trust.\u00a0 And they understand that sometimes the mirrors of society help us make mid-course corrections to remain trustworthy.<\/p>\n
